Since the early centuries when man started to apply fashion in their lives, the unending battle against aging has been getting stronger. Once they reach a certain age, men and women start getting conscious of their looks. Believe me, vanity is not only popular to men but not surprisingly to many of them. In a different form, man’s imagination has not let go of pursuing the popular fountain of youth.

People in the recent times have been cautious with the use of chemically treated items; thus there is a rise in the popularity of anything that is organic. For medical procedures used on man, the same thing applies. There is an increasing number of people who are turning to anything having less or no chemical treatment at all. And that’s why there are two derma procedures that are gaining steady popularity as they are known to be non-invasive types of skin rejuvenating procedures.

These two processes are home microdermabrasion and facial steaming with the use of facial steamers, and both don’t involve chemicals, have easy application procedures, and can be done right at the comfort of the home.

To be able to penetrate the skin pores, they have first to be open. And the best and safest manner to do that is to expose it to controlled heat which is steam in this case. Your face looks more stress-free and relaxed since steam is not just a pore-opener; it also relaxes your facial muscles. You can be sure of not having fine lines and wrinkles on your face once your facial muscles are in a calm state.

Home microdermabrasion is also known to be effective in making your skin younger-looking but it doesn’t cost a lot and painless as well, great news to men who wince at seeing other people sufer the pain. The procedure is quite a simple one but it removes pimple scars, age spots, and stretch marks, rejuvenates the skin, erases fine lines and wrinkles, and decreases the skin’s big pores.

Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) or better known as stroke is caused by the abrupt death of brain cells due to blockage or rupture of a brain artery. When an artery is ruptured, flow of oxygenated blood to the brain will be blocked.

There are two types of cerebrovascular accident. They are classified as ischemic and hemorrhagic. Ischemia is normally caused by embolism, thrombosis or systemic hypoperfusion while hemorrhage is due to subarachnoid hemorrhage or intracerebral hemorrhage. Studies show that most strokes are due to ischemia.

An ischemic stroke occurs when an artery in the brain is blocked by a blood clot that occurred in the blood vessel caused by atherosclerosis (hardening of the artery). If a blood clot or a calcium and cholesterol deposit in the wall cuts loose, they will flow along with the blood circulation and block a brain artery. This will prevent the oxygenated blood from going to the brain causing embolic stroke.

Embolic stroke can also happen if a blood clot occurs in the heart’s chamber when the heart is not beating regularly. This blood clot is attached to the heart’s inner lining that can also break loose causing the clot to flow with the blood circulation. A hemorrhagic stroke occurs when the brain bleeds due to aneurysm (weakening or widening of the blood vessel in the brain).

Symptoms of cerebrovascular accident depend on the part of the brain that is affected. The most common sign or symptom of cerebrovascular accident is paralysis or weakening of either the left or the right side of the body, often causing partial or sometimes complete loss of voluntary movement or sensation in the arm or the leg.

There can also be problems with speech, weakening of the face muscles that cause drooling. Also, numbness or tingling sensation can be felt while a stroke in the bottom of the brain causes difficulty in attaining balance, problems with vision, swallowing plus difficulty in breathing and sometimes unconsciousness.

In diagnosing cerebrovascular accident, physical examination as well as medical history is involved. Different tests are conducted to determine the cause of the stroke to come up with a treatment to prevent further damages to the brain. The most common tests used are the CAT scan (X-ray of the brain) for checking the blood clot in the brain and Echocardiogram (sound wave of the heart) for checking the blood clot in the heart.

Cerebrovascular accident or stroke is a serious medical emergency. Anyone showing symptoms of possible stroke must go right away to the hospital for diagnosis and immediate treatment. It is important to have regular check-ups from your doctor to prevent this from happening.
