How to Brew Beer in a Coffee Pot
If you have ever wanted to brew beer from your own home, you will be very pleased to know that you can do it from something as basic as a coffee pot. Thousands of people have discovered that brewing your own beer can be a very rewarding experience, as you will end the process with both a sense of accomplishment and, if it is done correctly, a great-tasting beer.
If you are going to brew your own beer, there are a few things that you will need. To start the process, steep the grains of barley in hot water. This will extract soluble material. To make this process more efficient, you will want to mill the grains of barley. Next, measure 1 1/4 cups of malted barley and then gently crack them using a rolling pin. Once they’re sufficiently cracked, place the grains in your coffee pot. Place 2 cups of clean water into the coffee machine, and turn it on. You’ll be surprised to know that the temperature of the coffee maker is nearly perfect for brewing coffee beer! This is good news, as all you have to do is sit and let the water and grain mix at a set temperature for about an hour.
The next thing that you will want to do step is to strain the liquid through the a coffee filter. Then put the filter that is full of grain into the filter basket. Next, put the strained liquid back into the part that heats the water. Add 1 cup of water to the strained liquid, and turn your coffee maker back on. Repeat this step five times, each time adding a cup of water. This whole process is called lautering. -What this means is that the hot water actually – washes over the grains, so that that all the sugars are all extracted. At this point, you will find that you have a very sugary liquid, called wort. Boil the wort for about 20 minutes, . Then add about 6 pellets of hops, and boil it again for 30 minutes minutes.or so. Stir what you have until you have something resembling a mini-whirlpool. Pour the wort into a jar. After you have carefully poured the wort into the jar, you will want to and cool it down by placing it. The best way to do this is to let the jar sit in a sink that is filled with cold water.
Let the wort cool until it reaches about 65°F degrees Fahrenheit. Securely put the top on the jar, and shake it as hard as you can. Take the top off the jar and slowly add the yeast. At this point, the jar takes on the role of a fermenter. All that is left for you to do is let the jar sit in a cool, and dark place for between 5 and 7 days and. The wort will eventually become beer. Then congratulate yourself, because you just made your very own beer – from a coffee pot!
