Sunburn Treatment Step by steps

Damage control is all you can do once your skin has been sunburned in other words there is no clear-cut or fast-fix sunburn treatment. What most cures and remedies aim at is comfort increase by the alleviation of the pain, redness and itching that accompany the problem. Therefore, the sunburn treatment is open to quite a number of variations. Here are just a few of the things you could do to keep the sunburn under control.

First of all, anti-inflammatory medication is a kind of sunburn treatment considered both very much within reach and popular too. Advil, aspirin or Motril can be administrated on a regular basis till the complete disappearance of the soreness or the redness. If for a certain reason such a sunburn treatment does not appeal to you, there are always the
traditional remedies to take into consideration.

You can apply cold compresses on the skin-parts affected by the sunburn or simply take a cool bath. The alleviation of the pain and soreness will disappear within minutes, and you’ll be able to rest too. A complementary factor in the sunburn treatment is the right choice of clothes, given the increased sensitivity of the skin. You should wear comfortable, cotton underwear or some loose garment that doesn’t stick to your body.

Avoid anything synthetic since such materials trap perspiration and keep the skin moist. Body lotions or moisturizing creams should be applied when the skin is cool enough, like after the shower for instance. You can ask at the local chemist’s for a sunburn treatment based on cortisone; there are even some cosmetic products that include this valuable chemical in their composition.

Some of the so-called sunburn treatment options could be more risky than helpful under certain circumstances since they basically contain chemicals that cause allergic reactions. Thus, dermatologists warn users to avoid as much as possible the topical ointments that contain ‘-aine’ compounds such as benzocaine for instance. Moreover, always apply the sunburn treatment on a small healthy skin portion to check whether you are allergic to it or not.

The damage caused by sun exposure can be diagnosed in its full extent only after four or six hours. In the meantime you can still take some damage control measures such as taking cold showers. Only when this critical time period lapses you can decide for one sunburn treatment or another according to the severity of the affection. Good luck and good health!

Sunburn Pain When It Summer

As fun as sunbathing would be, the pain caused by extended sun exposure can be a true agony. There are millions of people every year who get to suffer from sunburn pain owing to the fact that they either ignore or lack the knowledge to prevent such situations. There are ways to deal with sunburn pain but anyone would tell you that prevention is the first to start with. When does sunburn pain appear? The first symptoms of skin damage by sun exposure is redness. Depending on the severity of the condition there may be blisters too. Then, soreness, a burning sensation and the discomfort of having the clothes rubbing against the skin add up to the misery of the condition.

In order to cope with sunburn pain more efficiently, cool down the affected area with simple water: no soap or gels needed. Don’t make the mistake of applying some cream before you do that as it will simply act as a heat trap at the skin surface and the sunburn pain will be even more intense. Therefore, the first treatment consists in taking a cool shower
or applying a wet cold cloth or towel on the body parts causing you sunburn pain.

Another home-made cure consists of a water and white vinegar mixture with one part vinegar and two parts water. This solution applied and kept on the skin affected area with a cloth will alleviate the sunburn pain pretty efficiently. Do not rub anything in the skin when you suffer from such a condition since you will only aggravate the matter. Dabbing the remedy gently and then leaving it to dry naturally are the only two solutions under the circumstances. This is the way to use the aloe vera gel that has such a great reputation for the soothing of the sunburn pain.

Before using any skin lotions for the treatment of sunburn pain, keep in mind the fact that some of them may contain alcohol. The problem with such products is that instead of soothing the pain they will dry the skin and increase the discomfort even further. In order to avoid all the health problems that can derive from excessive sun exposure, with cancer here included, it is wiser to take all the precaution measures and protect yourself against the harmful ultraviolets and infra reds.

If the sunburn pain persists and there are other symptoms associated with it, you should contact a health care provider right away.
