Regardless of what your home’s architecture and the style that you have decorated in, the fact remains that there are elements that are required in every room for successful design. This also includes the kitchen.

These crucial design elements include line, form, balance, size, color as well as others, and they must be in the room for it to be a successful design. In the kitchen, they exist in many ways, including seating. Chairs depict style like no other piece of furniture can. So, choose these pieces carefully.

The kitchen has many different seating options like benches or chairs as well as stools. Wooden bar stools, in addition to other styles and materials have found a home in many homes and kitchens in recent years. They look great and serve a purpose, but choose it to fit in well with the room.

In a kitchen where there are many straight lines and it is basically a modern design, opting for modern bar stools would be your best bet. The good thing about modern style is that it is easy to clean because of all the straight lines and no fuss design.

For traditional style kitchens, you have a wider variety to choose from because this style can lean toward different styles. The more ornate the stool, the more traditional your kitchen becomes. The less ornate, the less traditional, and so on. This way, you can choose contemporary bar stools too. When it comes to picking the right ones for the room, check the height of the bar first. Will you prefer those that have backs or arms or both. Would you prefer that the stool is adjustable to suit anyone sitting on it? There are different things to look at and decide on.

Another thing to look at carefully is the the color of the stool. Ultimately you want it to match with everything, whether that means contrasting or complimenting. But, you will probably want them to stand out more than be hidden because they are a great design element in the room.

Prior to buying any, make sure you have measured the bar height properly and that you have those measurements with you when you go out shopping. You should also measure the width of the bar to ascertain the right amount of stools that will fit comfortably. Aside from that, check that they are made well and they are stable so that they cannot be easily tipped.

I love the idea of the urban rebel. The type of person that may have a killer job in the computer industry or something but you’d never know it. You see these people in Los Angeles all the time and I always wonder where they are headed to. Are they going to work or a really awesome rave?

I love seeing these guys on the freeway. Dawned in their leather jackets with their distressed laptop computer bags snug close to them in a fashionable and cool way that never works for me. Jamming down the open road of the interstate they haven’t got a care.

As he passes me I look for just a second to see design tattoos on his neck just under his helmet. He has another one on his wrist just the right size, not too auspicious. As he slows down ever so slowly to make sure I don’t run him over he gives me a little wink with the knowledge that I appreciate his coolness.

I picture myself if I could live this life because boy I would want to. To jump on the back a classic motorcycle and run off into the sunset with a professional rebel. But alas when the picture comes to my head I see myself more in the carpool lane on a Yamaha ATV.

Yet I am a rebel of my own sort, but I have a cause, to raise my kids in this beautiful cement jungle to a place of normalcy. It’s a challenge I have chosen to take and take very seriously. I have my own cool tattoos, but it came out of a cereal box and my kids put in on me upsidown.

My chosen profession is not a lonely one. I am never alone. And I see the warriors beside me on the freeway in their own quest to reach the next destination in time. We race from light to light to get to the bakery, the drugstore and of course the sacred Starbucks line. We wear our shields of denim proudly and walk with ease in our sensible shoes. We are always prepared with snacks and wet naps to handle any dilemma.

Yes we are the fearless mothers of urban America who can bargain with coupons and haggle over extra texting charges. We are trained to wait for hours in our car and know every song of Miley Cyrus. We wait in vigil until our one day of the years we are acknowledge nationally, you call it Mother’s Day, we call it Victory Day. We know our goals, to effective raise children who won’t be annoying to others. We carry ourselves proudly knowing we are doing an important task.

So pass me cool urban man, you couldn’t handle my life. It is paved with fears that you are not ready to face. Enjoy your single hood while you can, because your days are numbered as well until you are in the carpool lane with me too listening to PSP’s in your ear while you brave the urban jungle yet another day.
