Liquid Laundry Detergent

There are times when we all perspire more than we wish we did. Of course when exercising, this is expected. But it isn’t that hard to clean your work out clothes. You wear t-shirts and sweats that are made to be perspired into and you can expose them to harsher detergents and it isn’t a problem. But if you perspire a great deal into a nice dress shirt or blouse, when you get home you have a laundry problem that you need to have some special methods to handle.

The circumstances that would cause you to sweat like that are probably extraordinary. Maybe you gave a big presentation at work and it didn’t go very well. Perhaps you had a big test in college and you really had to “sweat it out”. Or maybe your car broke down on the way home from work on a hot day and you filled your shirt with sweat walking to get help or changing a tire in the hot sun. Whatever the situation, you could not help it but you still have to figure out how to get rid of those sweat stains so the shirt is not ruined.

This is a case where keeping some specialized liquid laundry soaps around is in order. There are a number of good ones on the market so you should stock up in advance because the circumstances we just described don’t give you advanced notice when they are going to come up and you want to be prepared. In fact, when you get home, you should not delay in getting that shirt into the process of being cleaned. The longer that sweat stays in the shirt, the harder it is going to be to clean up.

Usually the process of removing a perspiration area that liquid detergents call for is for you to apply the detergent and then allow it to soak in for at least a half hour before you move to the next step. Now look at the ingredients and instructions on the liquid detergent to make sure it is intended to be used to remove protein based stains such as sweat. You want the right detergent for the right job. Apply it to the stain and go enjoy a nice cold shower to calm down after a hard day. Then you can look at the stains to see if things are coming along before taking further action.

In some cases, more extreme action may be called for. In those cases, you may want to take the garment to a cleaner and explain the problem and allow them to use their specialized skills to get those stains out. But in 90% of the cases or more, the commercial liquid detergents do a great job. After about a half hour of soaking, you run the shirt through the laundry on cold water and gentle and the stain will come right out. You can then tumble it dry and iron it or starch it. Before long, the stain is gone and the shirt is good as new. Then the only remnant of your bad day is in your mind and that will pass with time as well.

Liquid Herbal Remedies

Herbal medicine, or herbal remedies, places much weight on the natural healing powers of herbs in combating illnesses and maintaining general well-being of both the mind and the body. You can make use of these natural powers into your everyday life by making your own mix of liquid herbal remedies.

The preparation of liquid herbal remedies may take some amount of time and a certain degree of skill. However, even those who are new to natural health can learn many simple liquid herbal remedies without having to go through various medicinal texts focusing on herbology. You can create your liquid herbal remedies, including teas, syrups, and creams. Below are some sample recipes you can follow to make your first mixture. For the herbs mentioned in these recipes, you can buy them at any supermarket or if you have your own garden, get them from there.

Liquid Herbal Remedies: Herbal Teas

Herbal teas are sometimes called herbal infusions or tisanes. It is a type of liquid herbal remedies wherein you simply infuse the aerial parts of herbs, such as flowers, stems, and leaves, in water.

The herbs may be dried or fresh. If you’re using dried herbs for your liquid herbal remedies, use 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb for each cup (8 ounces) of water. Let the herbs steep for about 10 minutes in water that has just been boiled. Afterwards, strain the infusion.

Using fresh herbs in liquid herbal remedies has a subtle difference in its preparation. Take 3 teaspoons of fresh plant parts and place it in a pint of water. Again, let it steep for a period of 10 minutes and afterwards, strain the herbs, leaving only the liquid.

Liquid Herbal Remedies: Macerations

Another type of preparing liquid herbal remedies is through maceration. This is essentially an infusion, only that the herbs are soaked in cold water instead of boiled. Herbs, such as marshmallow root and valerian, are much more effective as liquid herbal remedies if macerated.

To prepare, use the same ration of herbs to water, that is, 3:1. Steep the herbs in cold water and leave it in a cool place overnight. In the morning, strain the mixture and consume as you would an infusion.

Liquid Herbal Remedies: Decoctions

Decoctions are yet another type of making liquid herbal remedies. It is somewhat similar to an infusion; however it is most often used if the plants are made of much tougher material. Decoctions are used when trying to make liquid herbal remedies from herbal roots, barks, seeds, berries, and stems.

Chop up the plant material thinly and use 1-2 teaspoons of the dried or fresh herbs. Place in 1 ½ pints of water, then place the ingredients in a saucepan and boil for decoction. Let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes or until the volume of liquid is reduced to about a third. Afterwards, strain the mixture.
